Hannah & Jonny - An A Big Wild Autumnal Dance Party Wedding at Hope MIll Theatre - Manchester Wedding Photography

This year I have fallen even more in love with my couples - as if that were even possible! I’m leaning into the speeches, even the ones I heard variations of before. I’m asking about how they met, I’m listening and seeking out those in-between moments. I’m posing less and waiting for the real moments more. But I’m also acting more assertively as director, to ensure that when I do need their attention, I can hold it if only to capture those specific family portraits they’ve requested. I am learning so much in 2024.

When Iain and Emily first got in touch with me about their Owen House Wedding Barn wedding in Cheshire, I was so thrilled – they were planning the most beautiful and laid back wedding with an intimate ceremony, a hand-fasting and even a live band. Iain and Emily are the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Clare & Mark: A Ramsbottom Civic Hall Wedding

One of the biggest things that I tell my couples when we meet up is to enjoy the day, not to get super wrapped up in little details but to HAVE FUN and just treat it as they would any other awesome party filled with their most favourite people in the world.  After all, the most vivid memories they will have of the day will be how they felt: the excitement and anticipation and sheer JOY above all else.

A Little Bit Country, a lot of Rock n' Roll: A Jonny Draper Photography Workshop at Owen House Wedding Barn

I was lucky enough to be asked along to Jonny's recent workshop at the gorgeous Cheshire wedding venue, Owen House Wedding Barn to shoot some behind the scenes images of the workshop and assist in some of the practical shooting.  I was invited to participate in the discussion with the attendees and chat about my own business journey whilst shooting the super rad duo of Seb & Zuzi of Stella Photo, the beautiful Sarah and the incredible venue styling by Mat of Red Floral Architecture, The Word is Love, & Luminate Events.

Modern Minimalism: A Victoria Warehouse Styled Shoot

GREENERY.  Pantone's colour of the year is GREENERY.  What a wonderful colour to kick off 2017...it recalls freshness and regrowth/rebirth, is the first signifier of spring when crocus shoots burst through the soil and expand into new life as they stretch and reach for all that photosynthesizing goodness from the sun.  So I can't think of a better jumping-off point for your wedding.  What could be more refreshingly modern, more current than riffing on greenery and balancing it's wildness and richness with clean lines, copper accents and earthy brick, smooth sleek hair, geometric accessories and art deco jewels?

Discovering the Manchester City Centre Wedding Venue of Your Dreams (and my own venue bucket list!)

But with my first year as a full-time wedding photographer now under my belt and a jam-packed 2017 and beyond at some STUNNING venues, I've been thinking a lot about those spots that are perhaps a bit off the beaten path or maybe just haven't been considered in your quest for your dream wedding venue - a quest that is, arguably, the first and biggest step in planning your wedding.  With my first wedding of the year scheduled for next Friday at the gorgeous Belle Epoque (ticking off a box on my venue bucket list), I started thinking about the other Manchester wedding venues that I would LOVE to have a crack at.

Nina & Zakk: A Manchester City Centre Engagement Shoot

Nina and Zakk are one such couple and I was super stoked when these Sweden-based lovebirds told be that they'd be back in the UK for Christmas and we'd get a chance for their shoot ahead of their July 1st wedding.  If you've been keeping up with me over the quiet period, you'll have seen a few of the sneak peeks I posted from their Manchester city centre pre-wedding shoot...these two are just amazing.

2016: This Crazy/Beautiful Year

2016 has been one hell of a year.  I have been so fortunate to have experienced so many high points but some of that has been soured by the awareness of a growing global unrest.  I'm always clear: I'm an open book.
