Holly & James - A Joyous & Sentimental Manchester Wedding at HOME - Manchester Wedding Photography

I know that love happens under the splendour of moon and stars and fireworks and sunsets but it also happens when you’re lying on blow-up airbeds in a childhood bedroom, sitting in A&E or in the queue for a passport, or in a traffic jam.

Love is a quiet, reassuring, relaxing, pottering, pedantic, harmonious hum of a thing; something you can easily forget is there, even though its palms are outstretched beneath you in case you fall.

Photographing Holly & James' wedding was an unforgettable experience, not just a testament to their love but also a vivid celebration of Manchester at its finest. Their special day serendipitously aligned with Pride weekend, bringing an extra layer of joy and inclusiveness to the festivities. From the emotional ceremony at HOME MCR to the vibrant evening entertainment, every moment was filled with love, laughter, and the spirited energy of Manchester.

The day began at the iconic HOME MCR, where Holly and James exchanged deeply personal vows. Capturing these intimate moments was a privilege; every tear, every smile told a story of their 9 year journey together. The atmosphere was charged with emotion, and it was clear that there wasn't a dry eye in the room. It's moments like these, raw and unfiltered, that remind me why I love wedding photography.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a delightful drinks reception and a street food wedding breakfast. The street food added a relaxed, convivial vibe that perfectly complemented the day. Afterward, videographer Hannah and I ushered the wedding party to the nearby arches for some fun, candid shots. The arches, with their urban charm, provided a striking backdrop that beautifully contrasted with the joyous faces of the wedding party. This crew was here to PLAY and we had a ball putting them through their paces!

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the portrait walk around Castlefield with Holly and James. Away from the hustle and bustle, they took a private moment to share even more personal vows. Capturing this intimate exchange in the serene surroundings of Castlefield was magical. These photos truly encapsulate the depth of their connection and the genuine love they share. I was so touched to be a part of such an intimate moment, proud to create space for it to happen.

Returning to First Street, we were greeted by a flurry of confetti as guests eagerly awaited Holly and James' arrival at The Gasworks. The celebrations continued with heartfelt speeches and a classic fish and chips feast that everyone enjoyed. The speeces were poignant yet humorous, painting a picture of Holly and James' journey. James in particular paid tribute not just to his beautiful wife, but to the warmth in which he’s been welcomed into her family.

As the day transitioned to evening, we seized the opportunity for some golden hour photos. The light was perfect, casting a romantic glow over Holly and James, signifying the golden moments in their relationship.

Back at The Gasworks, the newlyweds kicked off the evening festivities with their first dance to Taylor Swift's "Lover." This was followed by a surprise father-daughter dance that left many teary-eyed. Holly's outfit change signaled the start of the evening's entertainment – a raucous ceilidh that got everyone on their feet and dancing.

Holly and James' wedding was a day brimming with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Thank you so so much to the new Mr & Mrs Bentley for welcoming me and all the amazing suppliers so warmly. I am genuinely honoured to have been part of their journey and am THRILLED to share their sneak peek…
