As a photographer, it's a rare privilege to be invited to capture the most intimate moments of someone's life. When Alex, my sister-in-law Kimberley's best friend, asked me to photograph his wedding to the lovely Roxanne at Delamere Manor, I knew this was going to be something special. Having known Alex for over 15 years and witnessing his journey, I felt deeply honoured to document such a poignant day filled with family, friendship, and heartfelt emotions.
The day began with the hustle and bustle of bridal preparations. I joined Roxanne and her eight bridesmaids in a beautiful suite overlooking the expansive grounds of Delamere Manor. The excitement was palpable, and laughter filled the air. Rox had kept her Enzoani wedding dress a closely-guarded secret, and when she finally emerged, it was nothing short of a showstopper. The room fell silent, and tears welled up in everyone's eyes as they saw Rox in her stunning gown – a vision of elegance and grace.
Kimberley, my wonderful sister-in-law, served as Alex's Best Man, a testament to their profound and enduring friendship. Watching Kimberley help prepare Alex for the most important day of his life was incredibly emotional. Her steady hands and reassuring words were the perfect antidote to Alex's nerves, and the bond between them was palpable.
The ceremony was a beautiful blend of heartfelt vows and poignant moments, showcasing the deep love Roxanne and Alex have for each other. We were fortunate to dodge a few rain showers afterward, capturing intimate portraits under the ancient trees that grace the Delamere Manor grounds.
As evening rolled around, we all enjoyed a sumptuous meal, followed by touching and heartfelt speeches. Each speech paid tribute to Alex's tremendous resilience in the face of lifelong health challenges and honoured the memory of his brother, Nick, who tragically passed away in 2022. Kimberley's speech was both moving and humorous, bringing the house down with her anecdotes. Roxanne wrapped up the speeches with a sweet and funny tribute that left everyone smiling. Roxanne is sunshine in every sense of the word and every speech made only emphasized this.
The celebration continued with dancing and revelry, a fitting end to a day that truly encapsulated the essence of Roxanne and Alex's relationship. It was an extraordinary day for two extraordinary people, and I felt privileged to have been a part of their journey, capturing moments that they will remember for a lifetime.
