2024 - A Year in Wedding Photography - Manchester Wedding Photographer
Well my darlings, the time has come, the walrus said, for auld lang syne and three cheers hip hip hooray because another year comes to a close and I have had yet another year of extraordinary love stories to tell. I always get super emotional when writing my end of year blog post - it’s another year of thousands of hours of communication and preparations, the brief time spent shooting followed by the countless hours perfecting the raw images in post-production, ensuring I only deliver the most beautifully curated time capsule of your wedding day. Because, as I always say, my job first and foremost is to be your time machine, your archivist, your storyteller.
2024 has taken me to some jaw-dropping new venues and even slightly further than I usually venture: to Hensol Castle for a massive, family-filled Welsh/Portuguese fusion celebration in South Wales, to the iconic Ratskeller in Berlin to capture two dear friends’ elopement after 15 years of loving. I explored wonderful new venues and spaces closer to home: the wonderful Eyam Hall and Duddon Mill Farm in Derbyshire, Gisburne Park, Hilltop Country House & the Bowdon Rooms in Cheshire, Hope Mill Theatre & the Portico Library in Manchester City Centre. And I returned to old favourites: Stockport & Sale Town Halls, Didsbury House Hotel, The Holford Estate, King Street Townhouse, HOME, Nunsmere Hall, Merrydale Manor & Colshaw Hall & Victoria Warehouse. Every wedding has been a glorious new adventure and creative challenge and I feel like I’m only just getting started in new ways to visually express, above all, how your wedding day FELT.
But the real joy of my job, the very best of all, is all of the warm and welcoming and supportive and trusting and kind couples and their loved ones who continue to make this work the only work I know I’ll ever want to do. YOU are what makes the work worth it. Because I thrive in the chaos and collaboration of a wedding day - I problem-solve and move quickly and change direction a million times over and it never goes exactly how I expect it to but somehow it’s even better. I recently worked alongside a fellow photographer who, when I was feeling particularly challenged that day, looked me square in the eyes and told me she’d never seen anyone work like I do on a wedding day. I feel energised and at peace all at once, I’m constantly inspired and that over-confident theatre kid in me comes out with full jazz hands READY to work.
2024 has been my biggest year and I’m incredibly humbled by how many stories I was lucky enough to tell. I am so so proud of the images produced and hold all of you deeply in my heart. I hope these photographs always transport you back in time to all of the beauty of your wedding days.
From the very bottom of my big fat heart, here is my 2024 - a year at your weddings.
