Susie & Sedar - A Dreamy October Wedding at Hilltop Country House - Cheshire Wedding Photography
As a wedding photographer, I have the privilege of witnessing and capturing the unique love stories of couples like Susie and Sedar. Their October wedding at Hilltop Country House in Macclesfield was nothing short of magical. The couple first met during the COVID-19 lockdown at Susie’s local coffee shop, where Sedar worked. Despite the challenging times, their love blossomed, and they’ve been inseparable ever since, recently adding Marvin, their adorable beagle/basset hound cross, to their family.
I owe this wonderful opportunity to a mutual friend, Hannah, who runs the fantastic wedding venue, The Holford Estate. Knowing Susie, a talented secondary school art teacher and a photographer in her own right, Hannah thought we’d get on famously—and she wasn’t wrong! From the moment I met Susie, we clicked instantly. I swear at their pre-wedding shoot, Sedar (and Marvin!) hardly got a word in edgewise!
I arrived for the wedding preparations at Susie’s godparents’ home, which overlooks the enchanting autumnal valleys of Macclesfield. Inside, Susie was all smiles, surrounded by her bridesmaids as she effortlessly styled her own hair and makeup. Her attention to detail was impeccable, with florals in rich, jewel tones that seemed to glow against the bright October sun. The Flower House really took the colour brief and SPRINTED with it!
With the golden light as the perfect backdrop, Susie and Sedar exchanged their vows outside, their love story taking yet another momentous step. The spirited confetti toss that followed was a joy to capture, as guests looked on, enjoying canapés and drinks in the garden.
We took a few sweet portraits, capturing the essence of their bond against the scenic backdrop. As the sun began to dip, we moved into the venue's cozy marquee where the celebration continued. The evening unfolded with wonderful food, heartfelt speeches, and emotive moments that tugged at everyone’s heartstrings.
The day’s crowning glory was a wild bouquet toss & their first dance to The Beatles’ “All My Loving,” a beautiful testament to their journey. Susie and Sedar’s wedding was truly a reflection of their love—a love that persevered through difficult times and emerged stronger than ever. Being part of such a joyful occasion was a privilege, and I loved every moment of capturing their special day.
A huge thank you to Beth, Cam, Emil and all the Hilltop staff for making my first visit to their gorgeous venue exceptional and to the new Mr. & Mrs. Ordek for welcoming me so so warmly into the fold. Here’s a sneak peek of what we got up to…
