Kirsty & Sam - A Beautiful, Emotional Manchester Autumn Wedding - Manchester Wedding Photographer

Let me fly you to the moon
My eyes have always followed you around the room
’Cause you’re the only god that I will ever need
I’m holding on
And waiting for the moment to find me
If I had a gun
I’d shoot a hole into the sun
And love would burn this city down for you
— Noel Gallagher

In the before-times (BC, Before Covid), I would Facetime a couple once they’ve enquired (or even Skype, remember Skype??), we’d get to know each other a little and decide if we were the right fit for the vision of their wedding day. They would book, we’d occasionally exchange the odd email or two. I’d shoot their pre-wedding shoot, we’d have a ball and by the time the wedding day rolled around, we would have developed our own rapport and chemistry, I’d feel like they were friends and that I know them well enough to capture them authentically on the wedding day. It’s not an exagerration to say that I fall a little in love with all of my couples, through the days of shooting and the many hours of editing I get to know their faces so so well it would be impossible to ever forget them. It’s the greatest joy of my job to be trusted with so many beautiful intimate moments.

The pandemic has only intensified this connection, the communication is constant and the chemistry is accelerated because we’ve now had even more time to solidify our relationship, to get to know each other, albeit via email and Zoom but I feel a love and protection over my couples, a duty of care even stronger than before because, as I’ve been (sometimes painfully) reminded over the last eighteen months, this life is so so fleeting and we need, more than ever, to freeze these moments in time.

Kirsty and Sam booked me in 2018 for their May 2020 wedding at the iconic Manchester wedding venue, King Street Townhouse. We know the rest but for these extraordinarily loving humans, they have now lived so many more lives and seen both monumental joy and devastating loss. Their wedding yesterday was a celebration of and memorial to both and it was truly, spectacularly, breathtaking - an emotional whirlwind peppered with both happy and heartbroken tears, toddler giggles and baby squeals and the best damn dance party I’ve ever seen at a wedding - tambourines should be mandatory from here on out!

With a who’s who of incredible Manchester wedding suppliers (listed below) and an assist from my Scouse Queen Michelle Wilson Photographer, I cannot express just how honoured I was to be Kirsty & Sam’s time machine, to capture this love story of a wedding day and hopefully preserve memories that they will treasure forever. What a gift this life is, what a humbling job I do, I cannot thank the new Mr. & Mrs. Clarke and their WONDERFUL friends and family enough. Here’s a sneak peek of what we got up to…
