Alice & Oliver - A Beautifully Windswept St. George's Hall Wedding - Liverpool Wedding Photography

Yesterday should have been my 100th wedding. 100 couples, surrounded by friends and family and love and happy tears and HUGS and joy that threatens to spill out and touch any and everyone in it’s glowing orbit. Yesterday Alice & Oliver should have had exactly this at the beautiful Holford Estate…but instead I got to witness, as with our new-normal pandemic weddings, the purest concentration of EXACTLY all of that joy on a bit of a smaller scale but no less powerful and emotional and GLOWING. There is magic in these teeny-tiny weddings and whilst they may not be what was desired (to paraphrase Marie Antoinette) they are no less dear to me. Humans are masters of adaptation, of resilience…forever an optimist, I’ve chosen not to despair at the lessons of 2020 but instead to embrace the bright sparks and cling to them whenever they are offered. Alice & Oliver’s very intimate wedding ceremony and celebration in the heart of Liverpool felt like something so special and was an almost video-game ‘re-up’ tonic of that magic I’ve been missing.

St George’s Hall is a behemoth of a columned building, situated just opposite Lime Street Station. This icon of a space (and Liverpool landmark) provided a STUNNING backdrop for Alice and Oliver’s nuptials and, despite the many restrictions in place (the masks are particularly timely!), nothing could overshadow the utter delight and romance of these two wonderful humans. The happy couple emerged following the family-only ceremony to a confetti tunnel of their nearest and dearest and honestly, the beaming grins of all involved could have powered the city! After some quick family snaps on the steps, we then popped onto a classic red double-decker and headed down to the docks for more photos…I would have loved to round off the day at their celebrations to follow but it felt right somehow, to wave them off and send them home in the sunshine to bask privately in their bubble of joy.

What a beautiful day it was, I truly loved every moment and cannot thank the new Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton for having me along to capture these memories for them. That 100th wedding can wait, I’m just so proud to have been a part of this one. Here’s a sneak peek of what we got up to…
