The most common question I’m asked as a wedding photographer in the North West of England is ‘what about if it rains?’ And my response is always the same - we live in Manchester, it’s bound to! So if, during the process of planning your Manchester wedding, this is a concern then I’ll always say that assume it will. Assume it will rain and then, when we have our brief spells of glorious weather and the sun shines down, consider it a bonus. The wonderful Chicago-based Julia & Andy weren’t so lucky yesterday with the weather but as Andy is Manc born and bred, he knew just what to expect and had prepared his gorgeous American bride accordingly.

Rather than let it scare them off, this constantly smiling and upbeat couple grabbed umbrellas and braved the windy wet weather, trusting me to create beautiful portraits and natural images that pay tribute to our rainy grey city! That they got married in the iconic former schoolhouse that is Great John Street Hotel only added to the romance of our blustery wedding day and, surrounded by their very nearest and dearest (many of whom made the journey over the pond from the USA!), this wonderful couple tied the knot in a ceremony that was American, English, Jewish and Scottish all at once - performed by their brother in law Patrick. It was a gorgeously emotional day and I was made to feel right at home by this international gang of lovely humans, capturing the sheer joy and elation of this amazing couple.

I cannot thank Julia & Andy enough for welcoming me along to capture these priceless memories, I have had such an awesome time getting to know them from afair for the past 18 months - and finally in person when we met up for their pre-wedding shoot back in December. Their wedding was the most perfect culmination of their time together and I LOVED working alongside some of the very best Manchester wedding vendors around.
