Sarah and Shaun got married last September at the spectacular Owen House Wedding Barn, which is a shabby chic barn in Mobberley, Cheshire. It was the most beautiful wedding and even the weather played ball!
Getting Wedding Ready
Sarah got ready in the fabulous bridal prep suite, surrounded by her beautiful sisters & bridesmaids, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. We had tunes playing and prosecco was poured and it was just a lovely buzzy atmosphere. She then walked the short distance from the prep suite to get to the ceremony. One of my favourite things about shooting weddings at Owen House Wedding Barn is how close everything is together and how seamlessly the day flows. Shaun got ready on site in one of the gorgeous chalets just next to the main ceremony room.
The Vows
The ceremony was a beautiful service in the main barn. With Owen House's distinctive refined rustic decor and thousands of twinkling fairy lights, the ambiance is already set for a BEAUTIFUL ceremony, you hardly need to add any extra dressing! During the ceremony they whispered their vows to each other. It was so emotional and such a personal service. I loved capturing the reactions of their bridal party, there wasn't a dry eye in the house!
The Afternoon
The reception was in the main function room at the venue. They chose Owen House Wedding Barn because it’s so cosy and relaxed and they just fell in love with it. It was a very chilled, family & friends focused wedding, which made it feel like a giant party. I love shooting Owen House Wedding Barn weddings because the grounds are absolutely amazing. It's a venue where the staff and suppliers are all just at the top of their game. It's been designed as a bit of a photographer's paradise and I always find new and exciting nooks and crannies to capture each wedding I'm lucky enough to shoot there.
They had a cocktail drinks reception in the afternoon, and an intimate family dinner in the evening. With so many gorgeous DIY touches and loads of greenery supplied by the amazing Sasha of Sassflower, this late-summer afternoon felt magical. We even were graced with the presence of a pair of lovebirds when we snuck out again for photos later! They decorated the venue with lots of colour and tealights, because it fitted so well to the barn wedding. From the unique hanging table plan to the paper lanterns, the doughnut table and fruit-dressed naked cake by Vanilla In All Seasons, everything was just so gorgeously designed, paying homage to the venue's rustic roots.
For dinner they had proper wedding grub, which was gobbled down in seconds by everyone. Vanilla in All Seasons is the recommended caterer for Owen House Wedding Barn and Julie & her team NEVER disappoint, the food is always outstanding! The first dance was a good old traditional wedding shuffle, and they finished off the evening with a full-blown dance party. Everyone was just so so happy and having such a ball!
The most memorable part of the day was the dancing, because everyone just went for it and had an absolute ball. They also had the amazing String Beans playing during the party – it was brilliant fun!
The Couple
Sarah wore a stunning halter-neck style gown by Watters and Shaun wore a three piece suit and they looked so perfect. Sarah’s shoes were super-sparkly red-soled iconic Louboutins - she then changed into bright white Nikes! and Shaun’s suit was super dapper and they just fit perfectly together with the surroundings. I had such a lovely time hanging out with this creative, sweet and fun pair - you really get the sense that they're the very best of friends. Everyone at the wedding was soo excited and happy for them!
